Oh–and did I mention that I will be giving fashion and styling tips, Amber of Type A Designs will be speaking about closet organization and her new children’s dress line, AND another guest will be chatting about all things fashion history. How fun! I just love it when fashion shows merge with education because at the end of the day, dressing stylishly and organizing your closet isn’t difficult if someone points you in the right direction *wink*

Welcome to My Life: What the VIP Has Been Up To Lately

IMG_2377

What have I been up to? More like what have I not been up to! From dress rehearsals out the wazoo to the Blue Plum Festival and from leading orientations at Northeast State to photo shoots for VIP–I have been rolling…rolling…rolling on the river *cue Tina Turner*

Ah–hardly so; however, I could use a little vacay on the river…or on the beach… Instead, I’ll just continue to binge watch Miss Congeniality from the comfort of my bed *wink* Anyway–where was I? Oh yes, what all I have been up to lately! Let’s take a little photography journey *fist in air*

THE PLAY:

A few months ago, I accepted the challenge to act in my first play. What started out as a “little role” soon turned into a character that distinctively appeared in every act as well as many of the scenes *wink* Although my acting has mostly been concentrated around small independent films, I was excited about the opportunity. It has been a scary, stressful, and hilarious journey over the past few weeks; however, the production is coming to a closing. Tomorrow night is our last dress rehearsal… *deep breath* WE GOT THIS *fist in air*

To learn more about the play, click here. Below are some photos from dress rehearsals!

My first scene where I am playing the 8 year old version of character who is too "proper" to be seen in her bathing suite. Keep in mind, this is the late 1800s *wink*

AND TAKE A BOW! I love this whole cast, and it has been such an exciting honor to work with everyone! I am going to miss it--I really am! Stay tuned for more photos and (hopefully) videos after the play is over! I cannot spoil any of it right now *wink*

BLUE PLUM FESTIVAL:

Walking Ziva around Blue Plum was a lot of fun...but I don't think she liked the heat all that much *wink*

My Aunt Karen, Dad, and I at The Steeldrivers concert at Founders Park. It was a boot-stomping good time *wink*

A lot of things at Blue Plum this year were different; however, I most enjoyed the ferris wheel (even though I didn't ride it *wink*)!

ORIENTATION:

Kudos to my orientation friend, Anthony, for putting this picture on his Snapchat. Ducks REALLY are my favorite, and I always love working orientation at the Elizabethton campus because there are ducks and ducklings EVERYWHERE <3

WOWZA! Long time no see, blog readers!

The last few weeks have been absolutely CRAZY because of final projects and exams; however, all of the hard work, tears, and late night coffee runs finally paid off! *wink*

Last night, I graduated cum laude with an Associate of Science in Broadcasting from Northeast State Community College, and I am excited to say that PHASE ONE IS COMPLETE! *major happy dance* In my time at Northeast State, I made some wonderful friends, hosted a number of interviews for Direction: Northeast, recruited new students as a Student Navigator, pumped up entering freshmen as an New Student Orientation Leader, and so much more!

Although I never planned on going to Northeast State, I am so glad God put it in HIS plans. I have learned so much and made connections that I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere else. While I will miss that wonderful little community college, I am ready for my next big step–transferring to Emory & Henry College in August to further my Mass Communications degree. Not sure how I feel about #DormLife yet though *wink* BUT…that’s another blog for another day.

Phew…two years has really FLOWN by quickly *sad face* But that’s how life is when you’re having fun working towards your dream!

While the past few weeks have been hectic, summer is FINALLY here which means the VIP is ready to kick out some new content, outfits, and adventures.  BUT I am going to be taking the rest of this week off to spend time with friends and family that flew in from Mississippi. School before blogs…Family before blogs…My mom has to remind me of that sometimes *wink* So, be sure to come back on MONDAY for a special announcement. All of us at VIP are excited about some new changes coming to better please y’all, the readers! Yay! Who is ready for some fun?! *wink*

Now, while I go get my booty kicked in a mean game of Chicken Foot Dominoes by my deddy and Gran, here are some photos from my 2016 Northeast State Commencement:)
